Into the Third Trimester with Few Students
Thursday, 04 October 2012 Written by fra Ivica Perić

Into the Third Trimester with Few StudentsThe third trimester has just started in our “Padri Vjeko” Vocational Training Centre. After a short break, the students have returned to their classrooms. However, the school is still rather quiet, because only students from the first year of tailoring, building and carpentry are present for the time being.

You see, until mid-October, students from the first year of welding, plumbing and electricity, and tailors, builders and carpenters from the second year will be missing from the classrooms.

In mid-August they were sent to various places throughout Rwanda to do their practical work in an everyday work setting. Now they are doing their practical work at construction sites alongside trained craftsmen, and tailors in various workshops. That is the best way for our students to learn their trade well.

Besides, even our teachers are currently not present in the school, so it is a good thing that the students are away doing their practical lessons. The teachers left the school to take the National exams, so only ‘teacher trainees’ stayed with the remaining students.

We have only two months left before the end of the school year, so we are eagerly awaiting the return of all students and teachers to classrooms and workshops to see how far they have gone in their learning!
