When a storm brings trouble |
With heavy rain and a thunderstorm, there also comes trouble. Although we are always happy about rain because to us it is a blessing - it is good for our gardens, our fields and for collecting the rain for our sanitary water - a storm can create problems as well. The other day a thunderbolt struck nearby our school. It “burned” the main router of our school so we didn’t have internet. Luckily, some parts were under warranty so the teleoperator MTN paid for the repairs. However, that is not the only thing that was destroyed. Two (out of four altogether) connections for the cameras in our school were also destroyed. The damage?... 594 euros! And we have to fix it ourselves. We aren’t very happy about the new expenses, but it is what it is. That cost is almost 6 times the yearly school fees for our students. We will get by, like we always do. Praise the Lord that the damage isn’t bigger. That is why I like to say – it could have been worse. Kind regards from Rwanda! Translated by Martina Pucelj |
