Celebration Of Our School Day |
Saturday, June 23rd was a special day in Kivumu. We celebrated the school day in remembrance and in celebration of the feast day of Saint Vjeko and after which our school was named. The day started with the morning Mass in the big compound of the school, officiated by Fra Aloys who is Parish Priest at Kivumu Parish and Father Kimenyi Jean Dedieu, who is in charge of Catholic schools in Kabgayi Diocese. Afterwards parents and other school visitors, among them Education Officer RUTEGESHA Gaspard who is in charge of education in our sector Cyeza, toured the school to see the level of education we offer. They were most impressed at how Padri Vjeko Centre is moving forward. Afterwards, there was interesting program. On the schedule, there were typical traditional Rwandan dances (Intorero) performed by Padri Vjeko Centre students, a skit depicting the quality of good education given in the school, as well as poems and acrobatic gymnastics. There was also a fashion show of modeling by the tailoring students, which was very spectacular. The event ended with different speeches and the presentation of certificates to the 2017 graduates. It was a very nice opportunity for the students to show their parents their skills and talents gained from the school. It also was an opportunity for the parents to see what their kids are doing at Padri Vjeko Centre. It was a day filled with joy. In the afternoon, after a delicious lunch of special food for the feast, some parents and visitors who did not live a far distance from the school stayed to watch students’ entertainment of singing, dancing and comedy, displaying their many different talents. People had fun and enjoyed that special day which happens once a year, and brings together parents, students, and school staff. Students and parents in particular are very proud of the school, which has helped them a lot. We heard this voiced in the speeches and in the different testimonies given by graduates.
