Temporary School Library is ready for users

Temporary School Library Temporary School Library Temporary School Library Tin-Man Temporary School Library

Although our ‘Tin-Man’ was at first meant to be turned into a biblio-container, because of the huge number of books that arrived as a gift from good people from Canada, the school library will have to be placed in some other larger room.

The Tin-Man will therefore serve other purposes – it will be used as the teachers’ office space, while the library has been temporarily located in one of the bigger rooms at CFJ Padri Vjeko School.

I say ‘temporarily’ because the real school library will actually be in the future Secondary School that we are planning to start building in the next few months.

But in order not to lose time while the future library is being built and until it is ready, all the books have been sorted and stored on shelves in a spare room, and all the information put into a computer database. I have to brag a little bit and say that we have 10,936 titles! The genres are various – religious books, all sorts of encyclopaedias, textbooks, research books, fiction and non-fiction. There are also about 600 books of technical literature which will come in handy for the students of our vocational school, because they will be able to find so many things about their own trades.

The library is ready for its future users. Now we only have to ‘install’ a reading habit in our students… At present, this might seem impossible. But, not so long ago, it seemed impossible even to get the children to enrol in the school. Well, look how far we got!
