We are looking for books for our School Library

CFJ Padri Vjeko School desperately needs books to build up a School Library for our students. Any used books (in good condition) are welcome!!!

In 2010, the Rwandan government changed the language of education in Rwanda to English, so our students could really use books to learn the language. If anyone has interesting books such as:

Primary school reading books
Children’s illustrated books and Simple Story books
Illustrated dictionaries
Educational Language Arts Books
ESL books
Special Interest books – crafts, sports, geography, etc.

Our School could also use technical books about:

Tailoring, Quilting, Needlework, Pattern-making, etc
Wood-Working
Brick Laying / Construction

Sending books from Canada

It is easiest to send the books in small quantities. Declare the package as: “Educational books”. Here are some Postal rates to Rwanda (code 07).

By Air (6 to 10 days) - eg. Large envelope size (30 x 25 x 2 cm)

Father Vjeko Ćurić

He didn’t flee like the other foreigners. He stayed at the side of his parishioners. When refugees from Kigali came pouring here, Vjeko hired staff to prepare them food. Kivumu Parish

As a parish we prefer the small Christian Community method. In these groups people learn to help one another. It is actually referred to as Church in the neighborhood where people pray and work together. We put a lot of effort to see that these structures function and are fruitful to them. Read more...
